The Importance of English
Good morning respected judicators, teachers and my fellows. In this opportunity, I’d like to deliver my speech about “The Importance of English”.
First of all, let’s thanks to God, Who has given us mercy and blessing, so we can attend this special event in a good condition. Secondly, I don’t forget to say thanks to the MC, who have given me an opportunity to speak in front of you all.
Ladies and gentlemen,
Have you ever asked yourself, why we should learn English? What’s the importance of it?
Well, according to an English expert called David Crystal, English is an international language. It’s means that English is the most used language in the world. Furthermore, English always appear in our life. Most of equipment used English as a media to give instruction, such as computer, mobile phone and television. So what happen if we don’t understand English? We will be left by this modern era.
In fact, there’s still many people who can’t understand English. The main reason is they are too lazy to learn it. Some people think that it’s not necessary to learn English. Because we live in Indonesia and we use Indonesia language in our daily lives. The others think that English is a difficult lesson. So they are not interested in English.
But ladies and gentlemen,
From now on, we should change our mind set. Why? because we live in this modern era. We have to compete with the others. We have to reach our dreams. So how to do that? The answer is “Learn English”.
Learning is an opportunity to use what we’ve learned and to improve the best version of ourselves. Life offers various challenge and we can’t let the fear stop us from learning. I decided that I had to stand and be brave. I feel sorry to myself that I’ve let the fear stop me from fulfilling my dreams.
We can use English to fulfilling our dreams. We can find the better job, travelling to everywhere, interacting with others, doing business, taking examination, and many more. You will have many experience that you won’t get if you don’t understand English.
Ladies and gentlemen, English is a fun language. We can learn English by the easy ways. Such as, a lot of listening to English songs, watching English movies and reading vocabularies.

By my speech today, we can conclude that English is an important language, and learn English is also important. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. I believe that we can develop our English to be better and better.
